I’m not even pregnant, trying to get pregnant or able to get pregnant. Why am I watching this?
@XxKittyGamerXx I’m 25 now, what’s your point?
That’s hilarious lol Love it!
Just a thought- it was in your recommended and it’s an educational thing for later.
???
I’m 17 so i could, but I’m not the first 2.
Hi ladies! Love this video and the both of you. The Pregmate tests aren’t faulty / the faint control line isn’t “concerning for those early days”. The problem here is she is so pregnant the test line has pulled all the dye from the control line. It’s called a dye stealer in the pregnancy test/TTC world! I hope that helps and people aren’t put off because it actually means they’ve really done their job ?
I’m not pregnant and have taken pregmate tests, they just suck haha I’ve had the same bleeding dye issue before
Was just about to comment this hahaha
This is very true! HCG level is the factor in positive or negative test. This video idea would have been more accurate if done a week before missed period and a few weeks later after missed period.
I swear by the Walmart tests. $.88 and they’ve always been super accurate for me. My doctor insists that if you spend more than $1.50 for a pregnancy test you’re spending too much, and through my vast, vast research – he’s not wrong.
That’s what I got for my first pregnancy test and I was almost 7 months pregnant with my daughter when I found out (I had extremely irregular periods at the time and carried her in my back until she was too big and I finally started to show) and it showed up in SECONDS. Both lines dark as hell.
Thanks for the info ?
@Samantha Sprague o took it 3 days before my missed period and gave me a positive. I have also had true negatives. There us a faint line that sometimes appears after 15 minutes. So just throw it out after the time limit and don’t dig it out and make yourself worked up because you now see a line. That time frame is there for a reason. Personal experience.
I believe you. I’ve never been pregnant but someone I know has said the same thing. They got two pregnancy tests; one from the dollar store and a clear blue from target. According to them, the cheap dollar store pregnancy test was able to pick up the hcg hormone first even though it was pretty early. She took another clear blue a couple weeks later and that time around, it was positive.
@AlexD123 Don’t feel bad. Took me until my third pregnancy to catch on.
I took the clear blue digital test and I felt like the results took forever ? well I’m pregnant ?
Awww…it’s been 9 months..hope all is well for you and your family♡♡♡
There is something about watching a pregnancy test turn positive! I’ve only had it happen 3 times in my life and it’s definitely an insane moment. I love watching pregnancy test videos ?
I had a nurse (who was 8mo pregnant lol) tell me that the red dye were the best.. so I ended up getting one of them along with one that said “pregnant” or “not pregnant” cause I did NOT want to have one of those I can’t tell situations.
My anxiety was insane for three minutes ?
Watched this for the science ?(I actually have never used a pregnancy tests so I have no idea how they work ?♀️) but it would have been cool and even more “scientific” if they compared it to Jess’ results as a control, for any false positives or such
Some tests might not work farther into pregnancy because of something called the Hook Effect. Too high of HCG for the sensitive tests. Also higher HCG can make the dye from the control line direct more to the test line.
Yea.. it’s called a dye stealer lol.. those first response tests are famous for giving those when you’re far along in pregnancy…
I was coming to the comments to see if anyone mentioned this lol so glad someone did! She’s too far along in her pregnancy.
The problem with majority of tests is that they are made for a specific enzyme present in an early pregnancy, meaning thta at later stage they may not be effective.
You should learn to spell
Yup. I double checked. Hcg dropping later in pregnancy is normal.
@Samantha Burg any midwife or doctor has told me HCG reduces in pregnancy as the placenta forms. And the hormone will be less later in pregnancy. So… I don’t really know what to say.
They test for the hcg hormones. Even if you were about to give birth it wouldn’t read negative. The test line could be bright than the control but that’s about it.
I’m a biochemist and this is inaccurate. hCG is a hormone that is present in high doses in pregnancy and the amount increases the further along in the pregnancy.
99% of pregnancy tests work by a immunoassay of this hormone. You mostly only get false negatives in early pregnancy when the hormone is below the “detection limit”.
The main way you’ll get a negative result in later pregnancy if the test is working correctly (which the control line checks for) is something called the high dose hook effect in which basically there is TOO much hormone present for the test to be able to display the positive result.
Which less pregnancy tests as a whole are not typically prone to the high dose hook effect because of the hCG levels in the average woman are usually not high enough for this effect.
I wish you both tested . I’ve had a few pregnancy scares where I had to test and received so many false positives countless times with so many different brands. Especially when it comes to the cheap ones. So I still end up having to buy expensive tests to verify 100% that I am not .
This was awesome! You should see the price on Canadian pregnancy tests. It’s crazy!!! The first response triple check (depending on store) is $32!!! The digitals are that much too.
I know it’s crazy how expensive they are
Hawaii is expensive too literally almost as expensive as you just said ???
$39 now ?
She’s probably too pregnant for this. After awhile you get the “hook effect” and pregnancy tests will look negative once there’s too much HCG
For Jess’ favorite clinical guard tests, they cost $1.70 to get here in canada (without shipping costs). So insane for the price difference…
I found out I was pregnant using the Clinical Guard test. It was funny how I found out, I had bought a kit with 50 ovulation tests and 5 pregnancy tests, and right before my supposed period I took an ovulation test for fun, just to see what it would say, and it was positive. I was very confused, so I took one of the pregnancy tests. It was faint, but positive. Later that week I took a digital Clear Blue test, and it ready pregnant as well.
Great to see you gals again, I hope everything is going ok with you Holly.
I would love to see bump comparison of Jess and Holly at certain points of pregnancy 🙂
Great video! I used the Dollar Tree pregnancy tests and I tested sooner than my missed period….so accurate and fast! Thank you for sharing♡ Love yall♡♡
I was Shocked when I saw how exxy those name brand tests in the Chemist were (In Sg, 1 Clearblue test is like $12!). Stocked up on the Colloidal Gold First response ones that were <$1 each...glad to have this confirmation that don't need to spend $$ to get ones that work! 🙂
I’m surprised by the Pregmate one. I got an ovulation/pregnancy test combo pack and thought they were awesome and super affordable. The ovulation tests helped me get pregnant and got accurately darker as I was getting closer to ovulation. The pregnancy tests worked for me too. Yes, they take some time, but for me personally I was okay with waiting. But some others, may not be so patient.
Whenever I’ve done the HCG tests in the hospital for patients they’re honestly the little $1.00 tests.
@aiyanna peoples also, the First Response digital at 11 DPO came out positive along with the others! I didn’t believe that it was a true line so had to take the others to make sure ?
@Megan Montgomery which one did u purchase? At what stage does the cheap one show a positive result?
If you’re too early those tests won’t show a pregnant result. Got a positive at home test 5 days before missed period and immediately set up a Drs appointment because I have had a previous miscarriage. That same day at my Drs office the test was negative! HCG was only at 17 according to my beta HCG blood draw!! So, I’d rather buy a little bit more expensive test to know for sure if I’m pregnant! I’m now almost 20 weeks along, so definitely pregnant
Yaaaassss exactly!I tell any & everyone questioning pregnancy or even out buying $20 tests…..JUST BUY THE ONE DOLLAR $STORE TESTS,SAVE YOUR $$$!!!?Women think bc you go to the Dr or hospital & pee In their cup, they are back there doing something fancy with the testing of said cup of pee??♀️?Umm no!No they certainly are not sorry!lol But can’t blame them really bc younger me also thought this way, until I worked at the pregnancy center for st.vincents & quickly recognized & realized which tests they were actually using.
